The Challenge

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) was running a programme to replace legacy Military Medical Solutions with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions delivered through the cloud using NHS suppliers. At the Alpha stage, the programme required specialist architecture and delivery capability to establish a clear target architecture and assess how potential COTS solutions could support the future environment.

A key requirement was maintaining the right specialist capability through a critical phase of the programme, including access to appropriately security-cleared resources.

The Project

SATIGO was appointed to provide an SC-cleared multidisciplinary team to support the Programme Manager and Lead Architect, with a focus on:

  • Developing the programme's Target Architecture
  • Assessing the viability of potential COTS products
  • Defining how COTS solutions could integrate with the future architecture
  • Documenting Fixed and Deployed AS-IS and TO-BE business architectures
  • Identifying more efficient approaches to service delivery
  • Developing an initial Level 0 and Level 1 view of the existing archiving capability

Our Delivery Approach

SATIGO assembled a multidisciplinary team with the specialist architecture and delivery capability required for the Alpha phase. The team worked alongside the Programme Manager and Lead Architect to assess the existing environment, document current and future-state architectures, and evaluate how potential COTS solutions could support the programme's future operating model.

The delivery approach also focused on maintaining continuity through a critical stage of the programme, with structured resource planning and commercial arrangements designed to support commitment through to completion.

The Outcome

SATIGO successfully delivered the multidisciplinary capability required for Phase 1, providing the MOD with documented AS-IS and TO-BE architectures, an initial view of the existing archiving capability and a structured assessment of potential COTS solutions. These outputs provided a clearer architectural foundation for the programme's next stage of development.
